What happens to your campaign data

Which data we keep about you as an advertiser, for how long, and what happens if you stop.

As an advertiser you give us more data than an ordinary member, because a payment and an invoice are involved. This is what we keep, and why.

What we keep about you

  • Your business details — name, address, contact email and optionally your VAT number. Needed for the invoice; that is a legal requirement, not a choice.
  • Your credit and transactions — every top-up, charge and refund, as a continuous ledger. That ledger is the justification for your balance, and so cannot be erased without making the balance unexplainable.
  • Your campaigns and ads — including the image you supplied and the targeting you set.
  • The review decision — which moderator decided what, and why. That trail belongs with a decision you can appeal.

What we do not keep

No data about the readers of your ad. Measurements are aggregated per hour with no user id, so no list exists of people who saw your ad — not for you, and not for us.

For how long

Invoices and the transaction ledger fall under the statutory retention period for business records (seven years). Campaigns, ads and reports are kept as long as your advertiser profile exists.

If you stop

If you delete your Debaty account, your advertiser profile goes with it, and with it your campaigns, ads, creatives, reports and booked placements. What remains are the invoices, for the reason above: they may not legally be removed. They also keep the details that were on them when they were issued — company name, address, VAT number, the period and the amount — because an invoice has to say what it said on the day it was issued.

To view or erase your data, use your data rights, just like an ordinary member. See also the privacy statement and the list of sub-processors.
