How advertising on Debaty works

Advertising on Debaty is contextual: your ad matches the topic, never who someone is.

You can advertise on Debaty — but differently than elsewhere. Ads are contextual: they match the topic someone is reading at that moment, never who that person is, what they did before, or who they are friends with.

The format

There is one ad format, and it looks the same for every advertiser:

  • an image you supply yourself;
  • a headline of at most 120 characters;
  • a body text of at most 300 characters;
  • the advertiser's name, always visible;
  • a link to your own page.

The card carries the word Advertisement at the top and the line Why am I seeing this? at the bottom. Both are mandatory and cannot be removed — an ad you could mistake for a member's post is exactly what Debaty does not want to be.

The placements

  • In the timeline, between posts, roughly every six items.
  • Below a debate, matching that debate's topic.

Who sees them

Members on the free tier and signed-out visitors. Anyone with Debaty+ sees no ads. Within a single session a reader sees at most a handful of different ads, so one campaign cannot dominate.

Getting started

First read Advertising on Debaty for the overview, then go to the advertiser centre. There you create an advertiser profile, load credit, and build your first campaign with the wizard.
