Starting a debate
Give your debate a title and a proposition, and invite others to take a stance.
A debate is a title with a proposition and a structured discussion below it.
Step by step
- Tap the plus button, open More options and choose Ask a question (or grow an existing bubble into a debate).
- Write what it is about, then tap Add a proposition — that is the step that turns it into a debate. Without it, it stays a conversation; see A question or a proposition?.
- Put your proposition in the field — short, sharp and testable, for example "Cities should be car-free".
- Optionally add context, an image or a source.
- Tap Start the debate. Your debate appears on the timeline and under Discussions.
A good debate
- A good proposition is testable: there is a case both for and against.
- Participants take a stance — For, Against or Nuanced — and back it up with sources.
- You decide who can reply.
Want the debate to start a day later? Debates can't be scheduled yet, but individual bubbles can — see Scheduling posts.
