Exporting your data or deleting your account

Request an export of your data or delete your account — both from your account settings.

You have the right to access and a copy of your data. Both live under Settings › Your data.

Exporting your data

  1. Go to Settings › Your data.
  2. Under Export your data, tap Request an export.
  3. You get an email with a download link once the file is ready. The link stays valid for seven days; you must be signed in to open it.

The export contains your profile, your account details, your settings and your active sessions — and grows with every feature you use.

Deleting your account

On the same page, under Delete your account. You are first asked what should happen to your contributions:

  • Anonymise my contributions (recommended) — your name, handle, avatar and email address disappear; what you wrote stays, without you attached. Conversations others built on stay readable that way.
  • Delete everything — your bubbles, debates and replies go too. If you started a debate, other people's replies to it go with it.

After that you type your handle and your password to confirm. A 30-day grace period applies — sign back in within that window and the deletion is cancelled.

Have a request that does not fit here (a correction, for example)? Use the page about your data rights.
